Electric bills add up to a big chunk of your monthly change
Kitchen is a great place to enjoy preparing and cooking meals.
However, one appliance in the kitchen would suck your wallet dry on an energy bill and that is a refrigerator.
On an average your fridge would only need to run 8 hours a day (24 hrs) to keep things cool, but when the fridge door keeps opens and closes often then so does your money going out the door!
This happens when the fridge is trying to keep things cool again since all the cool air has been let out when the door is opened.
Types matters
When it comes to energy efficiency, the size and type of fridge matters since you are going to keep things cool efficiently (smaller space, faster it cools: less energy needed).
For a full size fridge, double door (French door) fridge is least energy efficient because of the challenge to seal both doors and the air is all let out when both doors are opened, it is normal for people, although opening one door at a time would definitely save more energy!
The most energy efficient would be the top freezer fridge, with just a single door on top for freezer and another for the refrigerating area.
Where the top freezer would allow the freezing cold temperature to conduct nicely into the refrigerating area since the coldness travels downwards.
Size matters
Of Course the smaller the refrigerator (cubic ft) is often more efficient since you have less space to cool. You might want to do a quick calculation on the amount of energy bill the fridge would run you before buying a fridge that would make sense (how you and your family would use it in order to save more money on the energy cost)!
