Whatmenu’s take on Healthy Meal Prep for Antioxidant Diets

All those healthy foods! Have you ever wondering how your body would handle some of them? One way to find out, keeping track of how those food would affect you. Or you could have many different set of your own issues or conditions about your health or maybe, just the way you felt after you had eaten something. Well those feelings and feedback from your body is very crucial and most of the time, it can not be ignored; our body, perfectly balanced, keeping peace within itself, where all the cells are working together in harmony in producing, giving and benefiting each others in the process of building a more healthier and beautiful you! It is not hard to see from this perspective, much like our own society is trying to do for us. Where free radicals (results of our metabolic process from external sources in our environment: pollution, foods, chemicals and etc) scavenging looking for donors with extra electrons, that happened to be our good friends, antioxidants (having plenty of the extra electron to give without making themselves unstable). Reactive as these free radicals are, unless they are matched with antioxidants to stabilize them, they may seek and react with others (not giving that extra needed electron as with antioxidants), result could create harmful chain reactions that would wreak havoc on our body. That is the picture, why antioxidant are so important as food and supplement to keep things in balance. Remember, the key is balance: too much antioxidant in an unbalance ratio to those free radicals could also have adverse effects. Having that said, a bowl or maybe two of a spring mix with toppings should not tipped the scale over for our good friends (antioxidants); would always have a way to give and donate that extra goodness, leaving our body in peace and have some stable recruits (free radicals) to help us fight the cold and viruses!

Whatmenu’s spring mix with toppings Challenge

In preparing a healthy spring mixed with all sorts of fruits and nuts for a quick and easy meal; eating more often to stay lean and healthy. Please note, if you are allergic to any of those following ingredients, please DO NOT use this recipe.

Mix this! A bowl of spring mix recipe with Toppings

Spring Mix : great basic ingredient for this recipe.

Toppings : an avocado,an apple, walnuts, and a bunch of romaine lettuce (if not premixed), and others you might choose.

The making:

Simply take out some spring mix (pre-washed), or wash it if you like. Then wash the romaine lettuce, and put them on the bowl with the spring mix. Next, add in the toppings: slice or dice the apple; for those who wouldn’t mind to practice (makes perfect) and would like to bypass using the cutting board, make cuts on the apple like drawing earth’s longitude and latitude lines, careful, not too close to the CORE (you would appreciate this later), then start peeling those dices you had made from the apple as not to include pieces of the core that may have been peeled off with the editable part of the apple. If you are master at this, would pretty much get all of the apple but the core. Now go impress your family and friends! Having that skill mastered, avocado is pretty much the same way, except; inverse the process by splitting the avocado in half (by passing the seed), then take the seeds out and cut the latitude and longitude line as above from inside out and using a right size spoon to scoop along the skin to get those dices. Finally the easy part, just sprinkle some walnuts (For those who are not allergic to walnuts) to finish. With a single forkful, skewing all the toppings, with your spring mix while it is still quite cold (some of you may might want to chill the mix a bid more by putting them on the fridge first), holding it like; wouldn’t want to loose the grip on the prize (from a game vending machine)/(salad and toppings), take a bit at a time and make sure to pulverize the food in your mouth by chewing it really good: turn it to liquid if you have the time. Then swallow it slowly and enjoy each delicious forkful ; one after another as the same manner as above.
