Quick baked turkey
Nowadays, due to the pandemic, family and social gathering for the holiday becomes small at times just your immediate family.
Therefore the grocery stores are packaging smaller portions of turkey such as turkey breast. When one is not paying attention, he or she would be surprised to see just the turkey breast when opening.
Well, just as well, you get the premium portion of the turkey in smaller portions and the best part is that it might surprise you how well it tastes with gravy.
Let’s get started
Don’t cry over your turkey when you realize what you have and besides, it is Thanksgiving already, no time to go back to the store for an exchange.
Let’s get start on your Thanksgiving turkey dinner
First preheat your oven to 325 F.
Take out the turkey breast, of course it has been defrosted by now!, and wash it under cold running water for a few minutes to make sure you wash it thoroughly.
Next, and this part is tricky, you might see a pouch for presumably holding the giblets, but be careful, many times the package company would include the gravy in this pouch. So read it carefully before you open, it may be the gravy that you are pouring down the drain when you are looking for the giblets!
Once you have safely stored the gravy from the pouch, you may just find a big enough pan, please be sure to allow clearing to hold some turkey juice once it is baking.
Then place the turkey breast opening, face down on the tray and pop it in the oven when it is done preheating.
Let it bake accordingly: 12 – 15 mins per pound of turkey.
If you have an 8 pound turkey, that would take approx. 2 hours.
While it is baking, peel some potatoes (one or two) along with some carrots and start to boil them in water until the potatoes are starting to get mushy.
When the initial bake time is complete for the turkey fish out (with a strainer and leave the potatoes broth in the pot) and put in those carrots and potatoes in the baking pan with the turkey add some water if needed then pop back in the oven and raise the temperature to 375 F and bake it for another 35 mins or so until the turkey is cook to the internal temperature around 160 F and the turkey skin should turn golden brown.
Now on with the gravy
Heat up the gravy you happened to save with medium heat and take the remaining potato broth and pour some in with the gravy while it is heating up. Stir and make sure, not allowing it the stick to the bottom of the pan.
You would see it thickening to the proper texture for a gravy and turn off the heat and serve with your turkey breast once it is out of the oven.
Enjoy your turkey with gravy dinner!
